International Education

For Immediate Release: December 3, 2016

When girls have access to education, we all benefit. However, today, more than 62 million girls around the world are not in school—half of whom are adolescents. We know that countries with more girls in secondary school tend to have lower maternal mortality rates, lower infant mortality rates, lower rates of HIV/AIDS, and better child nutrition. Too often, a girl who has the aspirations and abilities to change the world is denied that opportunity by the circumstances of her birth or the customs of her community and country. We must commit to girls around the world – ensuring that they have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Solutions:

– Invest in programs that benefit girls education worldwide

– Encourage and engage adolescent girls to be leaders in their communities

– Support inclusive and empowering learning environments for girls in classrooms around the world
